Windsurfing: Cockerham sands Wind Direction: W Wind Stength: 15 - 25 knots Surf / Sea State: small chop Air Temperature: 18C Sea Temperature: warm Weather: Sun / squally showers Max Speed: Distance Covered:
Jo rang me up to see if I was goin kitesurfing at Squires gate so I rang up
the kiteshop at Fleetwood and it was blowin 30mph there so again too much
wind to go kitesurfing on my 12m kite.
Windsurfing it was then. Went out on my old NP 5.3 and 80 l board. Straight
away - setup felt perfect and a big improvement on yesterday. Would be even
better when I get a new mast. The old Tushingham fibregalss one im using
temporarily is dog muck and weighs a ton so makes gybing tricky. My gybing
improved on yesterday but still was pretty poor to be fair. I thought I got
gybing nailed in NZ but with only a handful of sessions since then - gone
back a few steps I think.
Highlight of todays session was sailing all the way to pilling sands on one
tack with Phil. Measured it on a map and it's just over 3.5 miles so
covered some distance. Then came back and messed around the shoreline for
the rest of the session. Phil, Jeff, Chris and 1 other lad were out with
chris's wife takin some pics. Lookin forward to seein them - Should be some
good ones in there and some good wipeout pics.
Would be a 5 star session as air temp & sea temp was lovely but wind was a
bit up and down and there were quite a few lulls where there was only
enough wind to keep me afloat.
